Week 24 – The Recycled Orchestra near you!

Here are a couple of opportunities to be aware of…

Awhile back you might recall I had pointed you to check out a youtube clip of The Recycled Orchestra. Well it turns out they are actually doing a Canadian tour and will be performing in Rosthern. Please share this info with your students; this is an opportunity they won’t want to miss!

Rosthern, SK – Tuesday, May 6th
Rosthern Junior College
410 6th Avenue, Rosthern
7:00 p.m.
Entrance is free of charge with a freewill donation

Interested in having your Arts Ed classes build traditional flutes and learn how to play them? Check out this website www.northernspiritflutes.net. Richard Dube from Saskatoon has pre-made flute kits that he sells for a very affordable rate, which are designed to be easy for teachers and students to assemble. In addition he has a workshop taking place in which you can come and learn the process ahead of time if you’d like. Please see his message below and contact him directly if you are interested in participating.

The date for the workshop at White Buffalo Youth Lodge is Saturday, March 15. The workshop begins at 1:00 pm but it would be great if the teachers could be there by 12:30 pm so I have time to talk to them ahead of time about the process. The flute making workshop will run from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. There is no cost for people to attend. I will gift them their flute if they help as an assistant throughout the workshop 🙂 Richard’s e-mail is fluteman@live.ca.
