Here is an interesting link that was passed on to me from one of our teachers. Have a look at how music and literature can work together. Thanks Kurtis!
Fall PD opportunities:
I. When teachers return to work at the end of August, I am pleased to say that we have been able to Alvin Kolach to join us during our PD time to make a session on ukulele’s available. If you are teaching or are interested in teaching ukulele’s in your school, Alvin can get you started in a very quick and easy way. No previous musical experience is necessary.
II. If you are a member of the Saskatchewan Music Educator’s Association, you can look forward to taking part in the Saskatchewan Music Conference in November. I am very happy to confirm that we have been able to get Chris Brooks and Chris Crockarell of Rowloff Productions to come to our conference this year all the way from Nashville! The conference will be taking place in Saskatoon this year and is a great place to learn more whether you are a beginning music teacher or an experienced one. The Rowloff fellows are fantastic and I highly recommend taking part in their session at the conference. If you have never had the opportunity to learn percussion this is the place to do it. Here is a link to their website so you can see what they do. The Rowloff guys can work with all levels of learners as well. Check them out here:
Looking ahead to next year, we are considering the value of building a PSSD music teacher network. Would this be of value to you? What would you like to see from or gain from such a group?
